  • Under Title I, all schools operating a comprehensive school wide program have been required to create a plan based on a needs assessment to identify school level goals and interventions that are being put in place to address the needs within the school. The New Jersey Department of Education is currently developing a new process to begin for the 2018-19 school year, called the Annual School Planning Process, which will replace the current Schoolwide Plans.

The new Annual School Planning Process will include 5 key elements based around using stakeholder engagement to create plans that will support meaningful student growth for all students. The key elements include:
    1. Data Analysis – Analyzing school-level and district-level data from the current school year as well as current state testing data.
    2. Needs Assessment – Reflecting on practices of the previous year and identifying areas of strength, as well as areas in need of improvement, and narrowing the focus to three or four primary areas of focus for the next school year.
    3. Root Cause Analysis – Determining possible root causes for each area of focus.
    4. Annual School Plan – Creating, via teams, an Annual School Plan including three to four SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound) to be the focus for the entire school year.
    5. Implement and Progress Monitor – Implementing the plan and setting checkpoints along the way to monitor progress toward goals.

This is intended to be an ongoing cycle in which implementing a current plan will lead to data that will be used to develop the following year’s plan. Supports for the development and implementation of the Annual School Plans will be released by the Department of Education throughout the coming months as outlined in the link below.

    Stakeholder Engagement

Stakeholder engagement is a vital part of the Annual School Planning Process. As part of the process of continuous improvement, schools should always consider the voices of all stakeholders and communicate outcomes and results to all members of the school community. Below you will find information on the requirements for stakeholder engagement under ESSA.

    • ESSA Local Stakeholder Engagement

    Moonachie Stakeholder & PAC Committee

Parents Are Encouraged to Join Any Time!!   Our committee currently meets three (3) times per year.  The committee consists of representatives from the administration, teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, PTO members, SRO, YMCA, and the Board of Education.

    ESSA Title I Annual Meetings

Every year, Title I funded schools are required to present information on ESSA and school performance to local school communities. Annual Title I meetings for parents of participating Title I students must take place at a convenient time, where all parents of participating Title I students are invited and encouraged to attend, to inform parents of their school’s Title I plan, explain the requirements of the Title I program, and inform parents of their right to be involved in the school improvement plan. Below you will find the annual presentation of our District Goals and how they tie into ESSA funding and vision.
